16. Shake the head
No-No-No Just disagree! Erect the head and the spine looking directly forward. Move the head slowly back and forth just like you were disagreeing. Start with just a small movement and with practice allow the head to turn more to the side but remember the 70% rule[26].

17. Take a positive attitude
Sit erect with the head facing directly forward. Drop the chin to the breast bone keeping the head straight with the neck. Raise the head up until the eyes look directly ahead. Raise the head slightly so the eyes look to the top of the wall in front of you. There is not any great movement of the head backwards upon this return motion. Too great a backward movement closes the vertebrae and compresses the disks – not a wanted action. Also note this is a focused forward neck bend exercise using the weight of the head to stretch the neck muscles and open the vertebrae in the neck. The head must stay focused forward. No tilting to either side to prevent any torque on the neck which can injure the discs. Only go until you feel the stretch impacting the muscles of the neck. Too much stretch can cause the neck muscles to spasm.
This exercise allows for a stretch of the neck but is also used when there is too much energy in the head. Sometimes the mind gets too active or is unable to process the flow of energy from the great circulation. Bending the head forward short circuits the pathway up to the head and allows the energy to move from the Dumo to the Renmo [27]channel directly through the neck. This is not a standard posture but can be used to calm the mind and redirect the energy flow on occasion.
